" LET'S TALK ABOUT DUCKS"...AND VARIOUS OTHER CRITTERS...

SO, WHY CRITTERS?

Our majestic, larger than life Roadrunner…pretty much speaks for itself…

I grew up in Ft. Stockton…West Texas ”Big Sky” country. Big cowboys and roughneck oilfield workers, big deer, big dust storms, big pickups and abundant bullshit. I loved the characters in the hit play “Greater Tuna,” because I’d grown up with those folks in West Texas. Of the many notable ridiculous observations from the Greater Tunicians, Petey Fisk’s “Let’s talk about ducks” ranks right up there with “But what about the buffalo?” from “Laugh In.” Great distractions from presumed reality.

Too much heat and a resurgence in Covid are wearing us down. While we’re all overdue for out and about, these serious roadblocks are thwarting our progress. I’m still finding some respite in my photo memories and realized that my library holds some diverse “critter” reflections that will resonate with many of you. Join me as I Mosey down memory lane…highlighting various “critters” I’ve encountered on my journey.

An early morning conclave in Grand Lake, Co. that would do Petey Fisk proud…

And while we’re talking mornings, here was the Art Princess inside and a friendly squirrel on the railing enjoying their healthy apple breakfast treats.

My Boston bride used to call these her “Eagles” …I seldom correct her…We’re still married…

Giving proper credit to my friend Barbara Carlson for sharing this magnificent elk image from Wyoming…

Speaking of elk, I was thrilled to catch this shot in Rocky Mountain Natl. Park…

I always love my encounters with West Texas antelope, however I must honestly report that this wonderful animal was beautifully presented in San Antonio’s Witte Museum…

The extremely rare White Buffalo, seldom seen except for encounters with the world’s greatest game trackers, such as myself. I try to relate these unique experiences every April 1…

An early morning Qigong class on a San Diego beach…

The extremely dangerous and rare Texas Jackalope…this one captured in Houston’s Galleria Mall…

An all time fave for most of us…The Chipmunk…Delightful distractions, wherever they are…

Proudly stole this image from the inter webs…Love the visual metaphor…We can all get along better…if we try…

IN CLOSING

We’ve been blessed with an abundance of natural resources. Most are critical for a healthy planet, yet there’s no doubt that we are failing as responsible partners and stewards. There is also no doubt that we can and must do better, modeling best practices in the care, feeding, healing and loving of this fragile planet. We owe these critters, our children and our friend in the mirror no less…TOGETHER…
