We’re All Impacted, At Least In The Short Term
My new blog posts are published monthly on the 1st. I’d thoughtfully considered an upbeat positive theme (always my preference), and then awakened to the reality of the Iranian debacle. The sculpture pretty well reflects how I’ve been feeling all day. What a tragedy! Bear with me as I attempt to regroup my thoughts and reflect on something for which we’re all unprepared…especially (and unfortunately) Congress.
The Toll In Lives…Military and Civilian
A traveling Viet Nam Memorial Wall replica visited our Texas State Capitol grounds several decades back. It was about 50 feet wide, 6-8 ft. tall. It had the names of all American soldiers lost in that tragedy. My son joined me for the occasion. We first walked about 15-20 ft. back to get the full perspective. Then, arbitrarily at one point, I was “moved” to step forward to see it up close. Of the approx. 57,000 names on the wall, this is the name I was drawn to. One of those amazing uncoincidental coincidences. I had NO frame of reference before that encounter. But it remains a permanent reminder of the human toll in war…up close and personal.
AT THIS POINT, WE MUST VOTE TO DRAMATICALLY IMPROVE RESPONSIBLE GOVERNANCE
In This Case, We’ve Got Two Good Candidates
I’ve known Talarico for several years. He’s a wonderful young man and superior public servant. Jasmine Crockett is also an admirable public servant. If she becomes the candidate, I will enthusiastically support her. However, in my judgement, Talarico is best suited for this time in Texas history. JUST VOTE, FOLKS!
