“DON’T IT ALWAYS SEEM TO GO, THAT YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU’VE GOT TIL IT’S GONE?”
From Joni’s “Big Yellow Taxi” (Ladies of the Canyon, 1970)
“They paved paradise, put in a parking lot”
“They took all the trees, put em in a tree museum.”
“DON’T IT ALWAYS SEEM TO GO, THAT YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU GOT TIL IT’S GONE?”
SORRY/GLAD FOLKS! WE THE PEOPLE HAVE CAUGHT OURSELVES! NOW, WHAT DO WE DO?
I’m betting/hoping leaders like JAMES TALARICO could help. We’ve got critical choices.
A ghoulish symbol…our White House Rose Garden being replaced by a cage-match wrestling arena…Just in time to “celebrate” our national 250th Anniversary. And, none of us, Dems, Inds. and R’s, can continue to deflect, shift blame and avoid/deny responsibilty. We pups caught the taxi. Now we’ve got to join TOGETHER to rise to our painfully obvious occasion to right the ship of State. Thank goodness it doesn’t have to go through the Strait of Hormuz…
We’re experiencing a daily bombardment of incompetent governance…temporarily controlled by the R’s, but not effectively countered by anyone. Lots of blame, divisive rhetoric, too little constructive action. The mid-terms give us a chance for improvement, but only if we support and VOTE for better.
A Recent Austin, Texas Rendezvous…Two men of Character, Class and consummate Communications Skills…
WHAT NOW?!
We need a diverse cadre of educated, experienced women and men who present the compassion, character, integrity, humility and humor to inspire and lead the rest of us. Folks from all backgrounds who will answer to community and conscience, not just elected or rogue power brokers.
NOTE: There will always be “power brokers,” representing the good, bad and recently lots of ugly in many universes of activity. WE THE PEOPLE must provide the filters, checks and balances to best govern/regulate the governed. That’s us, Folks!
IN CLOSING
The past few years have been demoralizing and destructive for our families and opportunities for self-governance. Our spirits have been frequently willing, but our dearth of effective leadership has kept us from extricating ourselves from this mess. Leaders such as JAMES TALARICO can inspire us to do better for our communities…and our children. This could be an exciting time of constructive recovery. Let’s make this national anniversary much more than these symbolic wrestling grudge matches. Let’s pledge to join in this great opportunity to work for healthy change…TOGETHER!
