Thanks, John, for loving Waterloo into existence
John Kunz and Louis Karp founded Waterloo in 1982, with Kunz ultimately becoming sole owner until the recent sale to Caren Kelleher and Trey Watson. The Grand-Reopening celebration this weekend of a new home, just up the street from their 6th & Lamar digs, was the perfect time to reflect on the many musical memories inspired from these treasure bins on display.
My love of music has prompted me to frequent this music box over several decades. I’ve purchased the cassettes, CD’s, posters, etc., that represent the music of my life, and I’ve attended many in-store concert events to get up close and personal to the circuit-riding artists who are selling themselves and their music. Many extraordinary performance surprises over the years.
Our “Live Music Capital of the World” gets a big boost from Waterloo…
Most local and many visiting musicians wind up in Waterloo over their careers. Presenting themselves to appreciative audiences…courtesy of Waterloo. The following talents have gotten a boost through Waterloo. Music sales and expanding fan bases. We fans and listeners are the better for the experience. A built-in music appreciation course. We all win.
Artists and their creative expressions resonate with us individually. Enjoy these images, and reflect on how they made/make a difference in your life. And the next time you’re in Waterloo, thank them for their contribution to the music of your life.
