LESSONS FROM BEHIND THE PODIUM, TYPEWRITER AND COMPUTER…
As a former speaker and speech writer, I was always striving to improve my craft, develop my own style. However, in so doing, I sought to study those who’d gone before…their words and their delivery styles. I learned to relegate my ego to the spirit of the moment, being willing (and often eager) to quote others who had risen to their individual occasions.
This disruptive chapter in our democratic experiment prompts us to call on those who’ve gone before to better equip us to raise our citizenship game, countering the destructive effects of governance without competence and compassion. Here are some salient challenges and observations…effective past and present. I hope some resonate…ENOUGH!
